I Don’t Have a Favorite NFL Team – Just Confessions

I am going to get it out of the way. I don’t have a favorite NFL team.

I know that in today’s culture that’s some kind of sacrilege, but outside of fantasy, I have a hard time following the NFL during the regular season. Something about it never really clicked with me.

Part of the problem is that I grew up in L.A. When I was a kid the Rams and the Raiders were still playing in the city, but they were both awful. The Raiders will still trying to make Todd Marinovich something, and the Rams, well I have no idea who was on the Rams.

The point being that by the time I wanted to start liking pro football both of those teams were gone. The Raiders back to Oakland, and the Rams to St. Louis. This gave me the freedom to pick whatever team I wanted.

A lot of kids in Los Angeles usually went one of two ways. They all became 49ers fans or Green Bay fans. I found this to be disingenuous. They were just picking the best teams. Even at

2010 NFC West Odds: 49ers and Cardinals NFL Favorites

The San Francisco 49ers were the first choice at online sportsbooks in which looks to be one of the most competitive and even divisional races for the 2010 NFL season. San Francisco opened as a -185 choice at sportsbooks to win in 2010 NFC West predictions for the division with the Arizona Cardinals +175 and Seattle Seahawks next at +465 in NFL odds. Only the St. Louis Rams were written off as hopeless as +1850 NFL betting longshots. Even the Rams offer some intrigue for the 2010 season, however, as 2008 Heisman Trophy winner and 2010 number one overall draft pick Sam Bradford will take over at quarterback.

The Rams have nowhere to go but up in 2010 NFC West predictions after a 1-15 straight up mark in NFL odds for the 2009 season. As for the 49ers they were an even 8-8 straight up last year as head coach Mike Singletary has now put his print firmly on the program. Singletary was a legendary linebacker for the 1985 world champion Chicago Bears

Sunday’s NFL roundup – NFL football, NFL Previews, NFL standings

After 40 years of being pushed around and dominated by the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Cincinnati Bengals refused to be bullied any more.

The Bengals beat the Steelers at their own game in their own stadium, relying on a defence that smothered Ben Roethlisberger and the Super Bowl champions by holding them to four field goals, and using one big special teams play for an 18-12 victory Sunday that put them in control of the AFC North.

Shayne Graham kicked four field goals in the second half even as the Bengals (7-2) failed to convert opportunity after opportunity to take control. Bernard Scott’s 96-yard kickoff return in the first quarter proved pivotal as Cincinnati, despite playing the second half without ace running back Cedric Benson and failing to convert on the extra point after Scott’s score, followed up a 23-20 win over the Steelers (6-3) on Sept. 27.

By sweeping the season series for the first time since 1998, the Bengals effectively

Super Bowl 43 – January’s Kick Off

The Titans began the season with a perfect 10-0 record before getting clobbered 34-10 at home by the New York Jets. They have bounced back to win their last two games for an impressive 12-1 mark, good for a two-game lead over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC.

In each conference, four division winners qualify for the playoffs along with the two teams with the next-best records. If it ended now, the Giants, Panthers, Arizona Cardinals, and Minnesota Vikings would hail as NFC division winners. The Giants and Cardinals have already clinched their respective division crowns. The Tampa Bay Bucs and Dallas Cowboys would qualify as the two wild card teams. In the AFC, the Titans, Steelers, Jets, and Denver Broncos would be crowned division champions if the playoffs started today. The Baltimore Ravens and Indianapolis Colts would earn the last two positions.

Securing one of the two best records in each conference is critical, as the teams who

A Fantasy Football Diehard?s NFL Predictions for the 2009-2010 Season

It’s my favorite season of the year again…NFL football season!!! Although I am a fantasy sports professional (a.k.a. fantasy addict) and play on a variety of fantasy web sites, my passion for fantasy sports all began with my love of football. The intensity, strategy and unexpected twists and turns that happen every season make each year unique and exciting. My love for the game has inspired me to observe trends and analyze stats over the years, so these days I like to throw my hat in the ring with the rest and make my own NFL predictions.

Jason McCoy’s Top 5 NFL Predictions

Feel free to agree or disagree with any of my predictions! As the season unfolds we will find out who REALLY had the best instincts and insight into the games.

Prediction 1. The NY Jets are going to win the AFC East.

Prediction 2. Adrian Peterson will score the most touchdowns in a season for a running

Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings are back in the primetime spotlight once again this week, traveling to Chicago to face the Bears on Monday Night Football.

Playing on the road hasn’t been a strong spot for the Vikings when it comes to covering the spread and last week’s 26-7 loss at Carolina was the latest in a current 1-3 ATS slump. Online sportsbooks have this line pegged as Minnesota -7, with an Over/Under number of 41.

From The Oilers To The Titans – The Journey Of The Tennessee Titans

Originally a charter member of the American Football League (AFL), the Tennessee Titans was previously known as the Huston Oilers, based in Houston, Texas. They began playing in 1960 and won two AFL championships, before the AFL merged with the National Football League (NFL) and became collectively known as the NFL. They are currently a member of the American Football Conference (AFC) South Division in the NFL. In 1997, the Oilers relocated to the state of Tennessee, playing in Memphis for the first season and then moved to Nashville. For their first two seasons in Tennessee, they were known as the Tennessee Oilers and then in 1999, changed their name to the Titans.

AFL success

In their first season playing in the AFL, they won the first ever AFL championship, and won it again a year later. Wally Lemm, their head coach during that time led a strong offense. The Oilers at that time had such a potent offense that half of the starting

Four Good Options In Search For The Next Great Safety

Four Good Options In Search For The Next Great Safety

INDIANAPOLIS — The NFL is a game based on trends and the 86 pass plays called in Super Bowl XLIV between the Colts and the Saints strongly suggest more teams will take to the air in an attempt to reach the Super Bowl. Which, in turn, means that defenses must plan accordingly.

A number of GMs and head coaches I spoke with at the NFL Scouting Combine told me they are looking for multitalented defensive backs that can handle all the adjustments to personnel groups and formations. Translation: find safeties that play like corners but aren’t fragile and will not break down when the contact comes at them. St. Louis Rams GM Billy Devaney said it best: “You need a guy that can handle a slot receiver and come up and stop the run or blitz.”
